Switching to Polycarbonate as the touch surface?

I would like to experiment with Nanoleaf as a floor-based interface for children with learning disabilities. However, the materials are not listed in Technical Specs of either Light Panels or Canvas, so I assume the touch surface is currently acrylic, or diffused plastic.

This proposal, therefore, would change the touch surface to Polycarbonate; allowing for greater resistance in load-bearing applications.
