Is it appropriate to paint a mural in a child's room or bedroom?

I’ve been toying with the idea of adding a mural to my daughter’s room, but I keep going back and forth on whether it’s actually a good idea. A while ago, I visited a friend whose kid had this soft, dreamy mural with clouds and tiny animals, and the whole space just felt calmer. It made me wonder if these artistic touches actually influence how kids feel in their rooms. But on the other hand, I don’t want to choose something she’ll get tired of too quickly or something too intense for a bedroom. Has anyone tried this and found a balance between something playful and something that won’t overstimulate the space?

I had the same doubts when we redid our bedroom, and what helped was focusing on softer tones and themes instead of anything too bold. A mural can work great in both kids’ rooms and adult bedrooms if the colors and shapes support a relaxed atmosphere. When I searched for ideas, I ended up scrolling through a collection of hand-painted masterpieces on feelflow.space and noticed how many of them were designed specifically to feel gentle and calming, which made choosing much easier. For our room, we picked a minimalist landscape, and it turned out surprisingly cozy without feeling overwhelming — so I’d say murals can absolutely work if you lean toward soothing palettes.

Just browsing through the forum and saw this topic — it’s always interesting how people approach decorating personal spaces. Bedrooms and kids’ rooms usually get a lot of thought because they’re such private areas, so it’s cool to see how many creative options people consider nowadays. I think the trend of adding more personalized art at home shows how design is becoming more expressive overall.
